Higgins Postproduction Opens New Facility in Orduña
Higgins, the Barcelona-based image postproduction studio specialising in film, series and documentaries, is expanding its national presence with the opening of a new facility in Orduña (Bizkaia), a location emerging as one of Spain’s new audiovisual production hubs.
The company will take over the operational management of the Mundo Cero Lab postproduction facility, a project promoted by Mundo Cero, Asociación por el Audiovisual de Impacto, with the support of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, and located in Orduña.
From this new facility, Higgins Postproduction will offer the same services available at its Barcelona headquarters, while adding a Dolby Atmos mixing stage. The facility is already operational and available for projects at Villa Sarachaga Enea, an Old English-style mansion built in 1910 and located at Paseo de La Antigua / La Antigua Ibilbidea, 16.
Five years handling the postproduction of major projects
Founded in 2021, Higgins Postproduction is run by four partners with extensive experience in the audiovisual industry: Willy Nuez, Postproduction Director, responsible for technical direction and workflow design; Nacho Codinach, Production Director, who oversees the studio’s projects; and colourists Moncho Sánchez-Gómez and Diana Cuyàs, with 30 and 20 years of experience respectively.
Drawing on the experience of its team, the studio provides a comprehensive service covering every stage of postproduction, from pre-production through to final deliveries. Its services include an image lab —LTO, dailies and workflow design—; seven editing suites; a Dolby Atmos mixing stage at the Orduña facility; conforming and colour services with four HDR/SDR grading suites; two screening rooms; Dolby Vision and remote colour support; VFX/GFX supervision and 2D compositing; UHD HDR/SDR/Dolby Vision mastering; deliveries for platforms and broadcasters; and LTO archiving.

Over its five years of activity, Higgins has worked closely with major platforms and audiovisual groups including Netflix, Disney+, Atresmedia, Apple TV and 3Cat. It also works with leading production companies and organisations such as Arcadia Motion Pictures, Lastor Media, Beta Films, Morena Films and Alba Sotorra Cinema Producciones.
Its portfolio includes projects such as ‘#SeAcabó: Diario de las campeonas’ (2024), directed by Joana Pardos and shot by Fran García Vera, winner of an International Emmy; ’33 Días’ (2026), by Carles Porta, with cinematography by Alberto Bañares, for Atresmedia and Movistar Plus+; ‘Yo no soy esa’, by María Ripoll, shot by Joan Bordera AEC; and Holly Wood Dust, the latest project by Viktor Kossakovsky, selected for the 83rd Venice International Film Festival.

The lab has also worked on series including ‘El cuerpo en llamas’ (2023), created by Laura Sarmiento and shot by Ricardo de Gracia AEC, and ‘Ciudad de Sombras’ (2025), directed by Jorge Torregrossa and shot by Bernat Bosch AEC, both for Netflix; ‘Mi querida señorita’ (2026), by Fernando González Molina, with cinematography by Carlos Rigo (see C&L 140); ‘Mala Bèstia’ (2026), by Bárbara Farré, shot by Lucas Casanovas; and ‘Day One’ (2026), by Víctor Cuadrado and Marta Pahissa, with cinematography by David Valldepérez AEC and Pol Orpinell AEC, for Prime Video.
Its work alongside filmmakers such as Carla Simón, Isaki Lacuesta, Marcel Barrena, Jorge Torregrossa and Carlos Marqués further supports the track record of the postproduction house, which is now beginning a new chapter in the Basque Country. These collaborations also reflect the trust that numerous professionals within the Spanish audiovisual industry have placed in the studio over the years.
Bilbao-Bizkaia: from shooting territory to new audiovisual hub
Since March 2026, the Bilbao Bizkaia Audiovisual Hub has officially been in operation, with Orduña serving as one of its two strategic locations alongside Punta Zorrotza in Bilbao. In 2027, Orduña will become home to a production complex in the former Colegio de la Compañía de María, offering around 18,000 m² of space, plus an adjoining 10,000 m² plot.
Postproduction Director Willy Nuez commented on the opening:
“Orduña allows us to take a step forward that we have wanted to make for some time: adding an Atmos mixing stage and expanding our capacity without compromising the same level of quality and rigour we apply in Barcelona. This is not a satellite facility; it is a genuine expansion of what Higgins can offer a project from beginning to end.”
Nacho Codinach, Production Director, added:
“At Higgins, we have spent five years working side by side with production companies and platforms on highly demanding projects, and this opening is a response to that trust. Seeing Bizkaia establish itself as a genuine audiovisual hub, with infrastructure conceived for the long term, gives us confidence that this investment has a strong future ahead.”
